Especially important is the level of potassium, found scientists at the University in Spanish Alicante. They analyzed data from more than three hundred COVID patients. Those who had low levels of potassium in the body were more likely to be on ventilators.
With potassium levels below normal, the risk of severe Covid and the likelihood of being on a ventilator reached 33%.
However, the mortality rate potassium deficiency didn't. But the duration of stay in the hospital walls increased by 2.5 times.

WHO recommends consuming at least 3.5 g of potassium per day to reduce the risk of heart complications and severe COVID-19.
The doctor draws attention to the fact that the findings of scientists from Alicante are confirmed by other studies that analyzed the data of about 1500 patients, almost 20% of whom were with a severe form of COVID-19. A decrease in potassium was detected in every fifth.
"Potassium deficiency can occur if the mineral is intensively excreted with the kidneys, is lost with diarrhea or vomiting, as well as with increased sweating during fever," said Oleg Abakumov. The expert drew attention to the fact that if there was a potassium deficiency before the disease, then it is obvious that COVID-19 will further aggravate the situation.
What symptoms say that you urgently need to check the level of potassium:

- interruptions in the work of the heart,
- frequent urination,
- feeling thirsty,
- constant fatigue, drowsiness.
How to increase the level of potassium in the diet?
To normalize the consumption of potassium, you need to try as much as possible to eat fruits and vegetables rich in potassium. These are bananas, dried apricots, avocados, figs, baked potatoes (always with peel).
And also use in the diet the cheapest source of potassium - table salt with a reduced sodium content, with the addition of potassium SOLENA.
